Victory!

US Airways brings back Preferred bonus miles and 500-mile segment minimums for Preferred members.

On June 12, 2008, US Airways released a statement to the press outlining a number of "new revenue initiatives to help expedite the airline's return to sustained profitability..." Among these initiatives:

  • US Airways is eliminating its bonus miles program for Preferred status Dividend Miles members. Preferred members currently receive mileage bonuses based on their status level. The Preferred bonus program will be discontinued for tickets purchased on/after Aug. 6, 2008.

US Airways explained that this change was necessary because, "By reducing the number of bonus miles issued, US Airways is in a better position to withstand the impact of record fuel prices."

On July 23, 2008, SaveDividendMiles.com was launched to provide Dividend Miles members with information about the airline and the "new revenue initiatives," and to organize a petition so that US Airways management could see precisely how many of their best customers they were in danger of losing.

And finally, on Nov. 20, 2008, US Airways announced it was bringing back Preferred bonus miles and 500-mile segment minimums for Preferred members and retroactively awarding bonus miles and segment minimums for Preferred member flight activity.

We would like to thank all of the frequent flyers who signed the SaveDividendMiles petition. You really did make a difference.

Congratulations!
